The Maria Island Guided Walk was founded by Stan & Senna Ellerm in 2013 to provide a truly unique and exceptional walking experience for Tasmanian, domestic and international visitors.

Our small family business focuses on providing high quality, small group tours and employs the best guides in the business. Your booking helps support local Tasmanians and helps us to improve and grow our Tasmanian owned enterprise.

All of our guides have a wealth of knowledge of Maria Island and have been guiding on the island, as well as many other multi-day walks on mainland Tasmania, for many years.

The Maria Island Guided Walk is part of the Tasmanian owned company Tasmanian Hikes [established in 2005], who conduct expertly guided walks throughout the Wilderness Heritage Areas of Tasmania.

Our Guests choose to hike on Maria Island with us, because of our extensive local island knowledge, quality of tour delivery, flexible itinerary and wholesome meals.

Maria Island is very special. It is known for its amazing wilderness, Aboriginal and European heritage, and unique plant and animal species.

To ensure that our presence on the island does not impact on the environment, The Maria Island Guided Walk applies the principle of LEAVE NO TRACE. Leave no trace is an internationally accepted way of minimising impacts on the places that we visit.
